Announcing the Edwin Moses 400H prediction contest

I’m intrigued by the range of opinion on how fast Edwin Moses will run the 400 hurdles in 2004. Now let’s make a contest of it. Predict the fastest time Edwin will run before the U.S. Olympic Trials in mid-July. The seer closest to the mark wins a masterstrack.com T-shirt!

Deadline for entry is Jan. 1, 2004. Post your predictions to this blog or send them to me at
TrackCEO@aol.com
. Feel free to post to the masterstf mailing list as well. If you don’t want your name publicly attached to a predicted time, mum’s the word. I’ll keep it secret. I might post the entry times, however. Just not the predictors behind them.
I’ll go on the record first: Moses will run the 400 hurdles no faster than 52.00 seconds in 2004. But even that time will be incredible — destroying the existing M45 record by more than 3 seconds. But 50.5? No way, Jose.
Best of luck to Edwin — and y’all in your fearless forecasts.
(In the event of a tie, masterstrack.com will award a T-shirt to each!)

Edwin Moses will not actually enter any races between now and the Olympic trials.
