M80 and women’s world records at decathlon nationals

Becca Gillespy sends final results from the masters deca/hep nationals at her old high school in Shoreline, Washington: “I believe we had world records in the M80 decathlon, both women’s decathlons, and the W60 LJ. The results aren’t final yet; we need to go back through some of the field event results and make sure the best mark was entered (one was missed for Emil Pawlik), and I am hoping to get them in a better format.” The WR setters would be W50 Rita Hanscom, W60 Nadine O’Connor and M80 Dennis Sulllivan – with 7357 points to break the listed WR of 6802 by American Fred Hirsimaki in 2005. Runner-up Denver Smith also broke the listed M80 WR with 7067 points.

I did some research and it looks like Nadine broke the American Record in the W60 LJ.

How come the order of events in the womens decathlon was switched around- some of the mens second day events are on the first day and vice versa. Is this purely for meet logistics, so women could be vaulting and discus throwing while the men are doing traditional first day events? Is this considered a “permanent” womens configuration?

The women’s deca has a different schedule, I hear because of concerns of having room to contest men’s and women’s deca events in the same venue.
Here’s what some people call the first women’s deca:
