Alistair Dunlop falls short of M55 indoor world record in 800
The second-oldest WMA world indoor record for 800 meters is 2:08.15 by M55 Reginald Phipps of Great Britain in January 1999. (The oldest is an M65 mark by Canadian Earl Fee in 1994.) But Alistair Dunlop had a great try at the M55 record Saturday at the Scottish Masters Indoor National Championships at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall. Alistair clocked 2:09.99, according to this local newspaper report. Still, it’s amazing — corresponding to an open time of 1:48.36 on the Age-Graded Tables. He was scheduled to run the mile Sunday, but I haven’t seen results. In any case, congrats to Alistair. His 1500 world record from January is remarkable.
Speaking of record attempts, W40 champion Alisa Harvey had to give up her shot at the American indoor 3000 record (9:56.24) a couple weekends ago.
Alisa led a collegiate race Feb. 12 at the U.S. Naval Academy before having to drop out from effects of a stomach virus “going around the area.”

On the Scottish Masters Indoor Championships web site I read where Alistair won the invitational mile with a great time of 4:46.02 beating Stephen Smith (4:46.32) who is ten years younger than Alistair. It must have been an exiting race because the other three runners in the race apparently had a dnf.
On the 800ms side- Last year Horace Grant (M55) ran a 2:09.92 at the USA indoor championships in his only indoor meet of the year and then ran faster than that 5 times outdoors. This would be a great mach-up but my money’s on Horace.

Hi Nolan,
This may not be the proper forum for asking this, but here it goes anyway. I am very intrigued by you eating only once a day. Would you be willing to share details, such as approximate calorie count, the percentage of carbs, protein, fats, etc.
Thanks in advance for anything you wish to share,
Jack Unruh

You are much too kind Nolan my friend. I only hope that I can one day achieve just a mere portion of your life-time accomplishments on or off the track.
