Author’s TED Talk on Olga Kotelko keeps her legacy, lessons alive

Olga Kotelko, the late W95 superlegend, has been gone almost a year, but she’ll never be forgotten. Two days ago, Bruce Grierson’s TED talk on his book subject was posted on YouTube. He seems to go beyond what he wrote in “What Makes Olga Run?” by saying the key to her success had more to do with what went on above the neck than below. She simply had the “youth prime” that let her live with youthful mind. This talk was given Feb. 27, 2015, at Penn State University. You’ll see yourself in it.

Wonderful tribute to an amazing woman. I will remember forever photographing her in Budapest, her last World Championships where she set records for W95 that may likely never be broken.

Oh, what a moving and inspiring talk! So proud too to see my photos used as a backdrop to Bruce’s beautiful words. Olga was my hero too. Thanks for posting this Ken.

A great tribute to Olga and a great speech to support that what goes on above the collar can make world’s of difference way beyond the gene pool one has been dealt in life.

I will always remember my last track meet with Olga at the 2014 Kamloops indoor meet. She was so supportive to me when I ruptured my achilles tendon in the high jump event. Olga took time out of her jumps to see me off in the ambulance and to tell me that she loved me. Those were the last words that I heard from Olga. She was my hero and a loving friend. I miss her so much and now masters’ track and field meets will never be the same for me.
We love you Olga and we know you are listening too!
