Charlotte scorers help club raise $7,200 for member
My sources in Sacramento say the Brooks Fleet Feet Racing Team raised more than $7,200 via team members scoring at the Charlotte masters nationals. Together with local fundraisers, more than $10,000 has been raised to help defray expenses involved in a kidney donation for a club member's daughter, my source says. On another note of generosity, I've learned that Nadine O'Connor, the top age-graded female scorer at nationals, didn't keep the Champion treadmill she won. Instead, she did what she'd planned from the beginning: Give it to her mother. "She is such a fun, sweet lady," Nadine writes. "I want her around as long as possible . . . She has a spot in front of a view window, just waiting for it to arrive."

Perhaps we will see Nadine O'Connor's mother at a National Masters Track meet or find her results from a senior games meet soon! After all if it is true that the apple does not fall far from the tree, Nadine's tree - er Mother - must have some pretty terrific athletic genes. With that new treadmill - she may be racing past some of us pretty soon.
