New details on Millrose masters relays

So who knew first about the masters relays at Millrose? According to Devon Martin, coach at the Cenrtral Park Track Club, it wasn't her -- as suggested in my previous post. She writes: "It was announced at the USATF convention that the masters relays were being 'put back in.' Then Mary Trotto sent the email below to CPTC's club president, Alan Ruben. I don't think Mary Trotto is in charge of this (although she could be). I think she was trying to get the word out."

Mary's note (and the source of bad spelling and punctuation in the CPTC post) was thus:

Me again:

Other strands are coming together, too.

Meet director David Katz posted this on the Track & Field News "Current Events" message board:

"Just for the record, I am the one who pushed for the masters 40+ men's and women's relay this year. Those who attended this year's convention could confirm this."

So that's that. But it sure would be nice if those attending the convention had spread the word wider. Folks outside the Central Park TC also would be interested in the relays at Millrose.

Not everyone who runs a 400 was at the USATF convention and many do not read Ken's Blog or the other blog he mentions. (their loss - I find Ken's Blog highly entertaining and often very informative). So - again the Milrose Games 40plus relays will include only the quick and the informed from nearby. Too bad,as there might be some clubs not in the northeast who would be able to find 4 fast 40 plus sprinters for a relay and come up with the time and the $$$ to go to the Big Apple for a fun weekend. As for me and my gang at Liberty AC - we are too old and too slow - and it is far too late in the game to round up some of the younger members, find a relay to run, get folks to commit to the event etc. Believe it or not, most people in the 40 and 50 age groups have a life outside of sprinting. And next year - it will be the same? last minute addition to the program, few takers, etc, What a shame.
