Eurovets results being posted expeditiously — and well

The folks in Slovenia have a good handle on this Web thing. Click here for results of the European Veterans Athletic Championships — the biggest outdoor masters meet on the planet this year. Decathlon results show how sophisticated the hosts in Ljubjana are about giving us complete info. They aim to impress, of course. Here’s what Dr. Milan Zver, the nation’s minister of education and sport, said on the site: “Allow me to express how overwhelmed and proud I am that Slovenia was given the opportunity to organise the EVACS 2008, an event, which can easily be ranked among the largest competitions ever held after the Slovenian independence in 1991.”

Yes, well it was a nice opening ceremony, if you’re partial to that sort of thing. At least the day’s rain stopped. Good to have a Government Minister there, though the Finns tell me that they have their President lined up to speak at Lahti.
Good also that you’ve been getting results. Up to today, if I wanted to find out how I’d done, the quickest way was to ‘phone the UK and ask a friend to look on the web! Results service has improved, but still fails when people simply remove the sheets from the boards and walk off with them!
Weather has been 32 degrees and humid since mid-week. Darned headwinds blew in with a big storm just as the 100m finals were under way, so be kind to the times you read! Most were run into the wind, in a downpour, as lightning flickered overhead!
Lots more to tell, but let’s give the organisation a few more days to settle down first.
Oh, and despite the organisers saying that Merlene Ottey would be racing in W45, (despite not being entered), she failed to show, tho’ she’d been seen training at the stadium during the week.

Tadeusz Laska (m60 discus, Poland) has awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve.

Forget Laska. Trent Lane won’t appreciate hearing about Italy’s Mario Riboni’s M95 WR in the discus. Mario’s best toss yesterday was 16.23 (53-3) to beat Trent’s listed WR of 15.95 (52-4) set at Hawaii nationals in 2006.

I filmed an interview with Trent Lane in Charlotte (I should put it on Youtube). He is amazing. He still flew his own plane and looked good throwing the discus and shot. He is a nice man and a terrific athlete. Does anyone have any information on Trent?

Unbelievable world record in the m60 weight 24.20 79′ 4 3/4″? Arild Busterud, Norway. Glad to be 65. Am I not seeing results for the mens shot put?

Webmaster left out the shot results on overall table, but I found them here:
