Starting the entry process for Kamloops 2010, I've noticed the official entry form states:

"If country and country of citizenship differ, a special explanation/approval is required".

Is this a new rule? It doesn't figure in any of the WMA rules for entry.

If I'm entering in the UK/GBR team and I have a UK passport, why does it matter where I live? As it happens I live in the US, but am still a UK citizen and have a UK passport. I don't see that I should be required to supply any other information.

Thoughts anyone?

That was just a mistake on the Kamloops entry form. I too am a British citizen living abroad and in the same boat as you. In a 7 August 2009 e-mail WMA's Brian Keaveney clarified:

All,
As long as the affiliate approves the entry all is well. No problem. NO special approval.

"affiliate" in our case being BMAF. All the best.

Now have "official" reply via Wilma Stonehocker, Operations Manager:

"I just spoke to Brian [KEVEANY] and he said you can compete for Britain, with Peter Duhig’s approval, regardless of where you live. Of course you need to be a member of the British Masters Athletic Federation. He cautioned that you can not switch countries and ask to compete for the USA at a later date. -

Peter Duhig is the man i/c entries at the British Masters Athletic Federation.
