I did a google search and there seem to be a lot of conflicting opinions about strength training. What is the current wisdom about periodized workouts? How do I set up a program based on this approach? Any resource suggestions would be appreciated.

Endless circle talking about weight training and throwing. Many schools, many big claims.

If I remember, you are over 50? So the weights are going to get smaller and you will need to get faster. Over 60, you need to really get fast.

The Wendler 5-3-1 is excellent for us older guys. Just try and google a spreadsheet, plug in your numbers and do it. I'm getting big gains without burn-out.

KB swings and snatches will aid in both cardio and explosiveness.

My little brother has a forum over at Dave Draper's site. Lots of stuff for throwers and old folks training. Dan John something something. We have details of what we are doing there.
