I was an excellent sprinter in HS. I am 48. Want to train for Olympic Masters in Montana, I need training advice and program to get started. I have been working out in gyms for years. Not into long distant running, Love sprints! I want to compete in the 60m, 100m and maybe 200m. I would sincerely appreciate any advice I could get.

Hi, Rachel

Welcome back to track!

Lots of people stand ready to help U achieve your sprint dreams.

You might start with clubs in Montana:
http://www.usatf.org/clubs/search/info. ... nNumber=31

Poke around your local USATF association:
http://www.mtusatf.org/

Some other tips are on my old FAQ:
http://masterstrack.com/faq/

And the new FAQ at the official USATF masters site:
http://www.usatfmasters.org/getstarted.htm

I'll bet your local college track team would be willing to mentor U for a love offering to their program or volunteer help at their meets.

Best of luck! Have a blast!

Hello Rachel,

I’m a Certified Level 2 sprint coach with USA Track & Field :D . I coach the sprints from 100m - 800m. Not only do I coach youths but I coach masters’ sprinters too. I coach members of the Athena Track Club (w45-50) and Kathy Bergen (w70) just to name a few. I coach Kathy via an online program that I’ve developed. I’m also a master’s competitor and compete in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Give me a call or visit the clubs website to get an idea of who I am. www.TachyonTC.net
Hope to hear from you soon,

Rachel,

Start with what you want to do (goals), then work backwards to put together a plan. Expect to balance getting faster with staying injury-free.

Be patient and wait for your body to adapt to the new stresses.

Don't assume your gym fitness will perfectly translate to track fitness.

Have fun!

Thank you, I appreciate that. Your correct, I need to start slow and build up to this. I hope to be ready by indoor season or next outdoor. :-)
