At 48 years old now I am finding I am having to change the exercises and my exercise routine more and more frequently to adjust and adapt to my aging body. But one thing I have always done and will continue to do as a key part of my training are standing javelin throws.
Most javelin throwers, if not all, disagree with this practice and dismiss the way I train for athletes of any age.
I not only disagree with this but actually highly recommend this practice especially for the more mature of us out there. It allows you to throw hard without destroying your body.
In the video below - taken just last month - I am captured throwing 64.02m from a stand with an 800g:

Because my standing throw is so big all I have to do now is stay healthy and waddle down the runway to throw over 70m+ and hopefully qualify for the Trials in 2012 when I will be 50
:)

Awesome Roald! It's tough to argue with success. Do what works for you bro, because obviously, it's workin'!
