I have always believed in a doing massive number of med ball throws to condition the body to be able to throw hard well and be able to absorb the stress.
Back in the day - early / mid 80's I used to throw a 6lbs med ball 10,000 times per workout and did that 3 times!
Yes it was exessive but i wanted to see how far I could push it.
These day I throw a 1kg med ball ( I believe we older folks don't need an heavier weight than that) between 8,000 and 10,000 per week. Some workouts are about volume while others are more about quality
The video I just posted is from about 6 weeks ago on a day I threw life time bests with the 1 kg. The stretch in my chest, lats and triceps when I threw felt absolutely incredible. But if you look on video it looks like i am flicking the ball. Notice the ball drifts forward to over my head before snapping back. I have never seen anyone do that before?
