Dear master athlete,

We are conducting a study at the University of Jyväskylä during the WMA indoor championships 2012. The study is aimed for male master athletes, age between 70 to 80 years and participating in sprint or endurance running events. The aim of the study is to identify changes in Achilles tendon and muscles of lower leg due to ageing and to examine what is the effects of training to these changes. The measurements are conducted at the facilities of the faculty of Sport and Health Sciences. The facilities are located next to the indoor hall which is the main venue for the events. Measurement take about 1 hour. They include ultrasound examination of muscle structure, few maximal plantar flexions and few passive stretches of the calf muscles. The measurements should not induce fatigue or otherwise hinder your performance at the competition. The measurements can be conducted after your competition event if you wish so.

For any information about the study, please contact the researchers via the email address at the end of this message.

Sincerely,

Lauri Stenroth, MSc
