With 50 years + under my belt I've learned timing is everything from the actual javelin throw itself to the preperation to peak at the right time. With just over 3 weeks now til the UK Olympic Trials ( my 8th) things are looking very good indeed!
In the last week I have smashed life time bests with the med ball and the golf ball throws and absolutely smashing my bests in the weight room with improvement of 20% to 40%!!! over this time last year when I threw a World Age Record for a 49 year old of 74.73m:
And yes of course I captured them on film ( see YouTube Links below)
By my calculations I am should be able to throw 77m to 78m...time will tell.
Anyone out there got some last minute words of wisdom for me?
Cheers

You're the expert but what I will say is that these trials could be your last so enjoy them. Talk to your competitors, look up at the fans, don't sweat the little things. And, of course, make sure you document the occasion and download to Youtube... :D

Not many people know this but I played professional baseball. I wish I enjoyed it a bit more vs. stressing over each at bat, inning, game, and season.

No words of wisdom, just wish you well in the UK Trials. It is amazing that you can compete at that level at age 50. Thanks for the javelin and other training advice you have posted here. Good luck Roald!
