Hi again & thanks for all the discus info-
I have been working on hammer throwing for the past year and I have the basic three turns down and am working on refinement. I picked up a 25lb weight(so I could have an indoor season)and have been applying the same form to that-seems to work well-but I have also been looking around for some info on the web for weight throwing but haven't found any-does anyone have info or suggestions on where to look?

Todd Taylor, a fantastic master's thrower has a website:

http://www.ironmanthrows.com/

He also wrote a whole addition for "GetUp", at danjohn.org back in
December.

I've been throwing both weight and hammer about a year in the 55-59.
Up to 129 in the hammer and 46.5 in the weight. Doing the same thing,
self-coached. Good luck. You need more, I got more.

Thanks for the site-still looking for info on weight throw technique-my main question is two turns or three for the weight? do you start the same as hammer (standing rotations over head) or just move into the spin directly? the standing rotation feels a little awkward.

Tom Fahey posted looking at Coach Mac's video site.

http://macthrowvideo.com/annual_2006.htm
and scroll down to the
weight throw. K. Johnson does a sling start and goes overhead with
two winds.

I throw with two turns for the weight and 3 for the hammer. I use
the sling start for the weight. Working on winding overhead and
three turns, but I end up going 100 mph and out of control.

Thanks those videos are very helpful-in terms of that third turn-I think I am rushing it and sometimes end up doing a toe turn (which is natural since I have throw discus a long time)-I plan to do some video's to see what's going on-

What I've always used as a guide to determine whether to do 2 or 3 turns is real simple. Can you speed up on the 3rd turn or is at the same speed. It it is the same speed just use 2 until you can accelerate the 3rd turn. Use someone to observe this because it isn't always what it seems to you.
