I started training with heavy stones. I have 30 and 60 pound stones that I throw overhead or with a modified chest pass after a short run-up. Has anyone had any experience with heavy stone training? I'm not sure it does any good, but it is fun. I keep the stones in a shed close to the track so I don't have to worry about them rolling around the trunk of my car.

This kind of training will come in handy if the British ever take away my weapons.

Another great equipment purchase were some Bowflex adjustable dumbbells. I bought a pair on e-Bay for $300 that included shipping. I understand that Costco now carries them for close to the same price with dumbbell racks.

My little brother has a whole training regimen with big rocks, sleds, and
150# back pack he does. It was in one of the Getups. He even has a dvd on carries.

I was just in Utah, training with him. He does the same thing with a big rock, where he runs and launches it. Try pulling a sled, with weight on your back, and then throw it.

We do a lot of Litinov stuff. The complexes are great for the end of season weariness.

I learned about big rock training from your little brother. He has several excellent DVDs on his website Danjohn.org.

My paws hurt today from throwing the rock too many times and trying to compete against a 30 year old Navy Seal (he didn't beat me by much). I think I'm almost ready to challenge Demi Moore to a heavy rock throwing contest.

Well, he did his usual and put all three on one DVD.
He tells me stories about the long talks with you, and John
Powell at discus camp. Maybe someday I'll make it.
