Is there an approximate total distance that's recommended for an interval training session? I want to do more training to primarily focus on the 400, but also continue to run 200 and 800 at all-comers meets. I expect to do intervals between 100 and 500 for my 400 training. Should I limit my total distance to no more than a specific amount for any given workout? Any thoughts wouldb e appreciated.

Found this interesting article from Clyde Hart, which suggests that total distance should not be all that much:

Hi,

Great article. Would you have a similar article relating to training for the 100m?

Many Thanks

Haven't seen one but I have seen a decent video by Carl Lewis that I got from my local library.

Thanks heaps for the link to the 400m article BoiseMaster. I was just browsing and it's regenerated my interest in running 400m...I had ALMOST given up on this race. I've worked sooooo hard and gotten pretty much nowhere with it. It's too late for this year but maybe next year........

'Hope grows eternal...' etc., etc.
