Hi guys - I'm new to Masters T&F. I used to throw in high school and a year in college, but hubg it up years ago. I'm now 44 yrs old and still compete in Masters ski racing. I'm interested in getting back into throwing - mostly shot and disc, but want to learn hammer as well. Problem is, there's no one around here where I live to help me out with coaching. Got any ideas? I'm holding off on competing until I figure out whetyher I can still do this...

Pick up a couple of instructional DVDs by people such as John Powell and Brian Oldfield. Also watch throwing videos that are available free from www.macthrowvideo.com. Buy a cheap video camera and coach yourself. Compare your technique with that of elite throwers. Make changes slowly. As your skills improve, try to train with the local high school or college track team.

Call around to the running stores in your area and ask if they know of any groups that meet. They might also know who is active on the Masters side of things in PA. Just keep talking to as many T&F people you can find and you'll find something you like. Tom's suggestions are also good one of course.
