I threw the discus around the 150 ft. range back in my college days , what distances could I expect to see some 40 years later ? With some training , for say 6 months .

From my limited experience and assuming you are about 58-62 and in reasonable but not superb shape:

1.) I would guess that 6 months is very,very little time to get in "throwing" shape after 4 decades 2) since you'd possibly be tossing the 1 kg instead of the 2kg you'd have a bit of an edge. 3) my bet would be about 35-40 meters.

150 in college is quite good. If you were to really train for a few seasons you could probably re-approximate that with the 1kg - so go for it!
