At the recent Swedish Masters Championships at the small coastal town of Norrtälje, north of Stockholm, athletes were delighted to receive their medals on the podium with names and results already engraved and at no cost.

The guys who can take credit for this incredible service to the athletes are championships organisers, the Rånäs 4H club and a sponsor, local jewellery and watchmaker firm Bergströms Ur & Guld. From the results system, they automatically engraved Masters Category, Event, Venue, Year, Athlete's Name and Result on each Swedish Masters Championships medal.

As a competing athlete, I can assure you that this was seriously good. Impressive. It put the final gloss on the already well-organised Swedish Masters Championships. Family-owned Bergströms Ur & Guld (http://www.bergstromsur.se/) are professionally satisfied that they met the objective of getting the engraved medals out in time for each presentation. They would like to try out their system at a larger Swedish meeting, such as the international DN Galan or the Swedish National Championships. I'll settle for the same service again at the 2010 indoor (Bollnäs) and outdoor (Öland) Swedish Masters Championships.

Is this anything for you in the USA?

Yes. Too cool for words! We should add it to USAMAs wish list as something actually maybe doable.
