1984 Olympic Marathon Champion Joan Benoit-Samuelson will be 50 on May 16 of next year and has hopes of running a sub 2:50 marathon as an W50 with an aim of qualifying for the Olympic Trial at Boston in 2008.

The current WMA record is 2:48:47, set by Edeltraud Pohl of Germany while Benoit-Samuelson's latest effort saw her pace Lance Armstrong over the final 16 miles of the New York Marathon as the seven time Tour de France winner sneaked under the 3-hour mark.

Go for it Joan
