YOU know you’re a MASTERS Athlete when
- the paramedics are at the finish line with a gurney ready
- your co-workers ask you when is your next Special Olympics meet
- there are more oxygen tanks at the meet than at an emergency
room
- volunteers return shotputs/discuses faster than your best track times
- you ask where is the broad jump and hop, skip, & jump to take place
- you look forward to getting older and the lighter weight implements
- equipment failure means the leg of someone’s walker broke
- you have on more support wraps than clothing
- after 5 minutes of warm-up you are wore out
- you ask competitors “how are they doing” and you get 20 minutes of
their operations, aches, pains, and conditions that day
- you look at everyone in your age bracket to see if you look the
“youngest”
- youngsters mean the 50-59 year olds and babies are those less than
50
- there are nursing home buses in the meet parking lot

You know you're a masters athlete when you show up to compete at a Collegiate open invitational and when you go to the shot put ring to start your warm ups, all the other throwers follow you thinking your the official and ask how long they have before the shot put starts and give you their names to sign in...:) 8)

You know when you are a masters athlete
1) when you hear the smattering of light applause when you are the last one finishing a race on the track.
2) You win your age group at a meet in an event because you are the only competitior in your age group to show up
3) You still occasionally complete in the Nike Waffle flats from 1980.
