With Ken a high jumper, I'm sure his concept of masters track includes masters field events. But what about masters road? Ken has been a bit fussy about discussing road racing in the past, yet it remains the dominant pursuit of masters athletes in most parts of the world.

10,000 good, 10K bad? What's the policy for the new forum?

Hi, Quick!

I've enunciated my stance on masters roadies before, but I'm happy to do it again.

Masterstrack.com -- and its forums and blog --focuses on half-naked geezers running around ovals and jumping into pits, over bars and throwing sticks and balls because there are SO many other places for the LDR folks to congregate.

These sites include letsrun.com, Runnersworld.com, the Track & Field News message boards and a bunch of others I don't bother to visit.

I occasionally post news on distance runners like Pete Magill and Ed Whitlock because they also are serious track stars. But I pretty much ignore other masters roadies, figuring they (and their fans) already own the Web.

Mcom (as a handful of people know it) is the one sanctuary where field and track is Supremo Numero Uno.

Having said that, I won't block or delete discussion or debate on roadie issues on this forum. I just find it boring.

(BTW, I ran one 26-miler -- the first Heart of San Diego Marathon -- when I was 24 years old. So I have plenty of respect for roadies. Just can't get excited about the niche.)
