Roger Kingdom wrote me a note saying he was having a pair of hurdle races at his school in April 2007. I blogged it here:

Who would be the toughest to beat? Willie Gault? David Ashford? Rod Jett?

Or would Roger run away with the title Greatest Hurdler Over 40?

I don't think I've seen Roger run so I'm not qualified to vote. I did have a ring side seat at Boston though (I was laying on the pit during the finals of the 60 hurdles) and watched David Ashford run his final. WOW! I had never seen anybody run the hurdles like that in my life. It was absolutely a wonderful sight to behold. Just my $.02. Later.......Mike

I have to vote for Roger. We ran on the same track team in Pittsburgh at the Univ. of Pgh and for a club team every summer. I've seen him pull off some amazing wins in the face of some pretty stiff competition. Besides, he told me I could still run after all these years and gave me some pointers on how to get back in shape. I can only imagine what he can do with real talent like his!!

Roger wasn't the only "Master" that almost qualified for the
last U.S. Oly trials . . . Masters' David Ashford and Richard Holmes
came very close also.

And Willlie Gault edged out David Ashford in their race at
Home Depot not that long ago.

Willie Gault (M45-49) and Richard Holmes (M40-44) and David Ashford
are all top notch for the M40-49 group. Don't forget the new M45s
speedsters Karl Smith and Dexter. Rod Jett has had several very
good races as well. There are several hurdlers that might possibly be "fastest" but haven't competed yet or for awhile, Roger hasn't
competed enough at a Masters age to know what he can do
against David and company . . . no doubt it will be very very fast.
