I wish the weights for the discus and shot would just go to the boy's high school weights. It would make it much simply to acquire the implements.

I think the 1.5 discus is the standard high school weight around the world, so I doubt the 50 to 59 groups will switch to the 1.616 kg discus. Go to the Gill website. They have some low moment 1.5 OTE discs on sale for $80.

Tom is correct. The US is essentially the only place in the world where HS kids throw the 12# shot and the 1.616 discus, so the real question is why we are out of step with the rest of the world at that level, not why masters athletes in the US don't throw what HS kids here do.
