Article on Leon Joslin:

http://blog.oregonlive.com/nwheadlines/ ... yearo.html

I was impressed watching Trent Lane compete in Charlotte the year before last. Trent knows what he's doing when he throws the discus and shot. Leon Joslin's world record performance in the discus shows that it is possible to maintain a high level of fitness into old age.

In the past, most people over 90 who competed in track basically showed up and made an appearance. Now, we are seeing accomplished athletes competing who train hard. Survival is no longer the only thing necessary for world records in older age groups. It will be interesting to see how elite athletes like Jay Sylvester, Carmelo Rado, Bob Humphreys, and Bob Ward do as they age.
