At the 1999 world masters meet in Gateshead, I recall seeing T-shirts with the phrase: "Older, Slower, Lower."

I've also heard this many times: "The older I get, the faster I was."

What mottos, metaphors, slogans, etc., have you heard about masters track?

I have to admit I like The older I get, the faster I was. I think 20 years from now I might have remembered setting the world record! LOL

From the Dolphin South End Club in San Francisco. We had guys running marathons into their '90's. And 5 and 6 year olds running races.
Lots of fun:

Start off slowly and taper off

I've had the "The older I get, the faster I was" T shirt for some time, but my wife recently bought me a new one which bears the simple message "Matured to Perfection". Maybe not, but it's a nice shirt.

How about, "Still crazy after all these years."

Thanks to Paul Simon. What event did he do?

My personal words: the older you are, the easier to become famous.

Or what someone in an interview said: just outlive the really good athletes.

I like the phrase I learned from Mary Harada:

"What else is there - couch potato?"

Another "niche" slogan: "Anyone can sprint. The best run hurdles."

My fave has been mentioned, "The older I get, the better I was."

Trouble with "the older I get..." etc is that it really isn't true for many of us any more, if you take the age weighted tables into account!

I feel a new T shirt coming on. Something like "The Age Weighted Tables saved my reputation".

For amusement, see my article at http://www.tomphillipsphotos.co.uk/inde ... age569.htm

The older I become the higher the gradings are... Is that true for everyone of you? Curious!

Hey Tom

I enjoyed reading your article. The age graded tables really back up my mediocrity! I'll check them again in a couple years and then maybe I'll call you for one of those T shirts!

My Grandpa runs faster than your Grandpa.

Blake,

That one is lost on me. Care to elaborate?
