Noticed in looking over some previous national meets that distance events were held at varying times of the day.

Since Spokane is supposed to be pretty hot in early August, will they have distance races in early morning or later at night to avoid the heat?

Hi Johnny, I'm also awaiting times to be added to the schedule that's posted on the website.

Spokane organizers, can you help us out?

The time schedule for the National Championships is determined by the Games Committee, not the local organizers. Because the schedule needs to be tight it cannot be fixed until all entries are in and they know how many heats will be necessary in each event and age group. Therefore, as has been the case for years, don't expect to see a precise time schedule until after the late entry deadline. It will be the same for the Indoor Championships in Maryland as well. The schedule posted on-line by the Boston organizers in the past has not been authorized by the Games Committee, and while the folks in Boston have a good idea based on having hosted the meet for years, there have always been changes when the final schedule appears, some of them quite disconcerting to athletes who've made travel plans. It is precisely to avoid those kinds of changes that the Games Committee prefers to wait to publish anything other than the day that an event will take place.

Just wondering if there's any chance that they put the distance events (steeple in particular) at the beginning or end of the day to avoid the heat. The steeple is scheduled for the middle right now but I saw that Eugene had it at the end.
