Information is now posted about the 2009 Combined Events National Championships: http://www.polevaultpower.com/decathlon/track.html

The dates are August 15-16, 2009 at King's High School in Shoreline, WA (just barely north of Seattle). Same site as the 2006 Championships.

I apologize if you do not like the date. We were very surprised to find that the T&F Champs stole the weekend we wanted to use! We didn't want to hold the meet any earlier, there are too many other local conflicts and we need at least a small break after the high school track season (OK I don't but the other people running the meet do!). This was the latest possible weekend we could host. Football begins the week after that meet and we cannot overlap with football for both facility and meet director issues.

Entry forms are not available yet, but I will let you all know when they are.

I put together a neat little picture of our facility and you can compare it to 2006: http://www.polevaultpower.com/decathlon/track.html

It has actually been upgraded more since this picture was taken. The track was resurfaced, and the area outside the finish line was landscaped, allowing for much better pedestrian access between the stands and the bathroom/concession stand.

I have a few questions for you all...

We lost our second (and third) pole vault box when they turfed the infield. We would like to have a second pole vault setup, but this would require a raised runway. That's doable, but is a raised runway legal for records for masters combined events?

We would also love to set up a second shot put area on the infield. Is it legal to use a portable shot surface and throw onto the turf like they do indoors?

I hope to see a lot of you there! We usually have ideal weather that time of year. If it's hotter than normal, we have loads of shade. If it's wetter than normal, we have loads of shelter.

I just wanted to keep this on people's minds. We don't have registration forms yet, but I will let you all know when they are available.

It's going to be a great meet!
