Ken Stone just wrote an article about the M60-69 hurdle specs being changed. Apparently, the distance between start line and 1st hurdle is being changed from 16M to 12M. Aside from the obvious trouble it poses for any athlete who has worked hard at establishing automaticity at the 16M distance, what does it mean for any record set at the 16M run-up. Does anybody know if this was discussed in Lahti?

Records situation wasn't discussed in Lahti.

But I've written notes to several people in WMA.

So far: crickets.

Thanks for checking it out. Courtland Gray's response on your blog may point to their reasoning. He believes that the extra 4 meters may actually slow him down. Perhaps that is true for him. He is truely a gifted hurdler. It may only make a difference for those of us who do seem to gain from the added build-up in speed. I suspect that crickets is all you will continue to hear. It is a topic of interest to only a handfull of athletes. I am prepared to go to work on the new 12m run-up and move on. I am just grateful to be able to hurdle again.......in any configuration.
