At the World Championships in Brisbane, I got the impression that some teams were sponsored by their governments. For example, I think the Ukranians got some help. Does anyone have any information on this?

It's my understanding that the French also do.

Talking to German competitors at the World Indoors and at the Europeans this year, they seem to have regular training camps together, though I wasn't able to gather whether any state money funded them.
