It's becoming harder... Or not? The difficulty with us jumpers and coaches is that we constantly switch from coordinate system to coordinate system and interestingly this almost never leads to problems. Except when we try to say things in pure newtonian terms.
Dapena's story contains 3 rotations:
1 when you lean into the curve and come upright during the take-off actions this automatically leads to a lateral rotation
2 when you lean backward at the beginning of take-off and come upright at the end of the take-off this automatically leads to a forward somersaulting rotation
3 add a bit rotation around the vertical axes to be perpendicular to the bar at the apex of your jump.

Hi Weia,

I did a wrote a little computer program to look at the back arch required for efficient bar clearance under varying conditions of lift (how far you raise the center of mass), the angle between the flight path and the bar, and etc. There are some things the program does not account for, but it is still quite revealing. I even put a little animation it it to illustrate the point. I'll send you a copy if you're interested.
