Hi,
Great to find this sight...

I'm a former collegiate distance runner who kept at it into my mid-20s. Now, 20 years and 30 lbs later I'm trying to get back at it as I have for the past 5 years. Dealing with a couple of issues and wondering if anyone has input:

- leg speed is gone. I've run everything from 4:10 for 1500 up to 55:45 for 10 miles. Last night I couldn't break 7:00 for mile at a local meet.

- Very busy work life with 50% travel. I try to get in 4-6 days/week, but most of it is 40-75 minutes at 10:00 pace.

- Hamstrings and calfs cause major problems trying to run faster than 6:00 pace for more than a 400. Pulled right calf bad last October in a race running at 8:00 pace!

Any thoughts? Advice? Is it mileage? Is it 100s/200s until I can run them without pain at 6:00 pace then move up?

Thanks!

It's age friend. Take it slow and work your way back in with patience. Number one rule of masters track is avoid injury! Number two rule is have fun. Maybe vice versa, but anyway...
