So here's my story...

After using up my NCAA eligibility in 1996, I joined the ranks of the countless numbers of unattached athletes. I have made numerous attempts to self motivate and keep into the sport - usually fading after a few meets every couple years.

Last year I made a serious effort to look into track & field clubs - only to find that nearly everything in my geographic region was youth only. As for adult clubs, pretty much limited to just running.

Because of my address, I am in the Ohio (17) Association. Ironically, one county to the east begins the Lake Erie Association and it appears there might be more available in that region - can I join a club in a region I don't live in? Also I've heard mention of national clubs - this is a mystery to me - how do I find them? and how do I join?

I pretty much have given up on finding a club local that would provide actual friendships and the comradery I miss so much from being on a team... I'm hoping somehow there is a legitmate way to even get involved with a club in a 'virtual' fashion.

I appreciate any feedback/advice any of you would be so kind to offer

-Adam

Adam,

Check out these clubs listed by National Masters News:
http://nationalmastersnews.com/clubs.html#midwest

Also, write leaders of your local USATF association for possible other leads:
http://www.usatf.org/assoc/oh/

And a few coaches worth contacting are listed here:

Best of luck!
