When a coach times a sprinter in practice, when does he start his watch? As soon as the athlete moves? When his or her first step hits the ground? Some other way?

After I rise into "set" position my coach starts the clock at my first movement, wherever it comes from! He wants me to imitate an actual competition start, so I'd better keep still in those blocks until I'm ready to go.
