Does anyone know about the status of the legendary masters thrower Wendell Palmer? I missed not seeing him at Orano this year.

I haven't been on this forum for quite a while, so excuse me if this is old news to you.

I throw with Wendel at probably 6 meets a year. The first part of the season he competed with a badly damaged rotator cuff in his non-throwing arm. This really affected his ability to block, not to mention the pain, slowing his ability to heal, and the potential for making it worse. So he rigged up this contraption which consisted of a weight lifting belt, an arm sling, and some kind of metal connector that fastened the 2 together. The result was that it kept his left elbow tucked in close to his body when he threw, and you've gotta know that it affected his performance. The good news is that at the last meet of the season he was starting to throw without "benefit" of this rig. I suspect he figured he had no business going to Orano this year, but I would bet he'll be back at Nationals next year.

Wendell is an icon and should go to Orano even if he can only throw 2 feet. He has won more championships than anyone. He is the dean of throwers!

He competes with some pretty strong company too - Like Dr Bob Ward, Carol Finsrud, and Tom Gage. All inspiring to us wannabes.
