Just need verification....the world championships meets have the pentathlon in the indoor championships and the heptathlon and decathlon (but no pent) in the outdoor championships, correct?

I'm inquiring re: women's events but I would imaging it would be the same for the men.

Hi Liz:

You are correct: the indoor pentathlon for both genders is held at the indoor world championships, and outdoors it is the decathlon for men, and the heptathlon for women. There is also a weight pentathlon for both genders at the outdoor meet, but no track pentathlon.

Thanks Ken! Starting to think about competing at a world championship meet in the future...

Hi Liz;

You should compete at the Worlds. You'd do very well in the heptathlon and have an incredible experience at the same time. 2009 is in Finland. I had the privilege of competing in Finland in 1973 with my old track club, Shore AC. The Finnish people are very friendly and appreciate athletics as much as any country in the world. I'm sure they will put on a first class track meet. The weather in late July/early August should be very nice as well.

I'd love to go there myself, but I'll have 3 in college during 2009, and will also be paying off college loans for my oldest 2. Unless Southwest Airlines plans on going international, I'm SOL. I'll be hoping Sacramento wins their bid for the 2011 games.
