Hello all, newbie here. I came over from a powerlifting forum. A new guest over there was asking how can any lifting work build up his speed in the shot put. He told me about this web site and others,....and WOW. I never knew this existed for us 35 and over people! I want to give it a shot,...and a sprint. LOL. My silly question is, and sorry, more is to come,...I saw some records in the shot put,...is that in feet, meters or yards? And is it with a 16lb. shot?

Man,..and the times I saw in the 100 meter dash blew me away.. That is awsome. I think my best in high school was like,...10.8 . Somewhere under 11 seconds. Anyhow, my wife is gonna get a kick out of this, me powerlifting AND trying get involved in Track and Field again.

Thx ya'll.

Welcome. Have fun, break a leg, but don't get injured!

Welcome,
Up to 49 years old it's still the 16lb shot and 2k disc
50-59= 6k shot and 1.5k disc, goes down from there
Depends on what site you were looking at the records whether it's feet or meters. Most records are listed in meters. The rankings you can get to from this site are meters. Which PL forum were you on?

Hi harry320, I was on http://www.t-nation.com/tmagnum/index.jsp
Under "Strength Sports". There is alot of info there. I also belong to another one www.elitefts.com under the Q&A, there are coaches and athletes that go there and post alot of sporting questions.
