No, runfast70, it is not. This is more than WMA avoiding bailing out a WMG or EMG meet. These past months at least two (2) Brit Masters Federation mouthpieces (including the BMAF Chairman formally at the BMAF AGM and later deliberately repeated in the Masters Athletics BMAF magazine) on separate occasions have warned British masters athletes against competing at EMG and WMG. A British athlete also mentioned another country's "boycott" of 2008 EMG Malmö. That is more than someone's "poor choice of words."

Unfortunately it is all too obvious that WMA does not want us to compete at 2009 WMG Sydney. And that is not their business. However it is not too late for WMA to repair the damage. So let's hear a positive "Good luck at 2009 WMG Sydney!" from our WMA-affiliated national federations - preferably from BMAF first. And maybe all of them could use a good PR agency.

If you have the money, enter both meets. You will not be sanctioned because nobody gives a damn. Olympic sports interest people for a few weeks every four years and are quickly forgotten; masters are not even on the radar. Don't worry about it. Do it because you love the competition and training and realize that you will not get any recognition.

As Gahndi said, "Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it." That might be complete BS— or maybe not.
