Hello Weight Throwers,

As the Indoor Championships Throws Liaison, one of my tasks is to keep an eye out for throwers capable of reaching the back wall of the Reggie Lewis caged circle landing area; a distance that varies between 20.50m and 22m+. In past years we have moved age groups such as the M60-64 competitors into the infield to compete. Tom Gage's capability of producing his 23m+ winning throw a few years ago precipitated that decision. Sometimes the person is well known, sometimes an upper level national caliber thrower returning to competition, or it's someone moving up in an age group to a new implement; etc.
So if anyone out there knows for certain that a thrower capable of throwing beyond 21m (last year's longest winning weight throw of 20.02m by Paul Economides was accomodated by the encaged circle area) is out there and anticipating entering the Meet, please ask them to send a post this way. If moving any age group out of the encaged throwing area is necessary, it's helpful to know that well in advance in order to make plans and adjust the time schedule if needed.
Thanks for your help. Train well and throw far.

Ron Summers, from Il, hit a monster throw last week (65') with the 25lb weight. He is in the 55-59 age group.

Jim Wetenhall had a 21m foul last Saturday in Landover, MD, and Ken Jansson is brand new in that age group and quite capable of going that far, even if he hasn't yet.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for those updates. I will keep an eye out on the NMIC entries for the M50 weight throw over the next couple of weeks, and will contact Ken at his practice in Wichita Kansas just to confirm whether he is planning to enter or not.
Are the Eastern Regional results posted anywhere online yet? Thanks.
