The Mills College track and field team was born in the spring of 2008, and fueled initially by a couple of coaches who didn’t mind working from the ground up, an athletic department that believed in giving even brand new athletes the chance to train and compete, and a team full of student-athletes who were ready to make Mills history and give back to their community.

One year later, the Cyclones are hosting the Mills College Track & Field Open, an event that will bring together collegiate, masters, and open athletes to celebrate the sport of track and field and pave the way for future generations to participate. In addition to the collegiate/open division, there will be a girls’ division. All meet proceeds will go toward funding an after-school girls’ program that will allow Mills athletes to mentor and teach track and field skills to disadvantaged Oakland girls through weekly meetings on the Mills campus.

Special guest elite athletes (TBA) will attend and speak briefly at the meet, as well as compete that day. Join us at Skyline High School for this exciting track and field event on Saturday, May 2, beginning at 9 a.m. Go to the Mills College website or directathletics.com for more info.
