In 2010 new age gradings will come in use. As they are already available for multi-events and 5-year classes I did some tests to compare them with the old ones. Interpolated them for 1-year use.
In the high jump the new ones give lower results but in my opinion still too high. Take for example Debby Brill who jumped 1.76 at age 46 (remember, Ken!) and has an all time best of 1.99. So her grading should not be above 1.99, I think.
Old 2.078
New 2.066
The men: Tomas Zacharias has an all time best of 2.21 and jumped 1.84 at age 59. This leads to:
old 2.496
new 2.368
We unfortunately have not many jumpers who had an excellent career in their youth and did some oustanding things as a master. But in all cases I think their masters results should get a grading of at most their all time bests...
