One more try. Herniated c5/6 . Has anyone had the surgery thru the front of the neck and what were the results. Healing time? , and can you still run. Please respond or have non T&F friends respond. I am getting mixed info here from the doctors, therapists, etc.

An ACD/F (Anterior Cervical Disc/Fixation) procedure is commonly done by Neurosugeons and some Orthopedic surgeons. In typical cases you are out of the hospital in 24-48 hrs. You will have a sore throat and hoarseness is common for a few days. Swallowing can be painful for a few days. Rarely a Posterior procedure is also required but that is for severe disease. I doubt you'd be doing any significant athletic activity for quite a while if your disease was that bad. With a typical ACD/F you'd take a couple weeks off running and with clearance from the surgeon you'd probably get back into light training thereafter. No straining (weightlifting) for 3-4 weeks.
