I am an M49 (PB; 100m=13.27; 200m=27.32) sprinter in my second season. Over the last couple of weeks I have developed a pain in my lower right leg, about 3" above the ankle on the inside just behind the shin-bone. After I run my calf muscles are tight and I can see a slight bruising in the painful area which also throbs for about half an hour afterwards. Can anyone tell me what this is and what the remedy is?

mikedrake,

I know it's been sometime since your initial post, but have you had the opportunity to speak with a professional about your pain? Are you still experiencing the symptoms?

I get these symptoms once in awhile. It's Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome. Google it but make sure you don't mistake it or the Acute version. The Acute version is life threatening.
