Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced a foot/ankle injury where it only hurts to run the curves? I developed this pain where the tibia meets the foot during a 200 workout. It's right where the foot bends in the middle. It doesn't hurt to run straights. I think it has to do with the torque the curves create on the inside foot. It hurts to the touch but I don't think it's muscle or tendon. Based on my web research, it's either a ligament sprain or stress fracture...I think.

Any feedback on this?

Thanks,

-Fidel

Bump on this topic.

Almost 6 months and my foot still hurts. Seeing the doctor on Tuesday.

Did you try exercises for the small foot muscles?

I saw two doctors this week. One a sportsmedicine doc and the other a podiatrist. They don't know what I have except that I run too fast for my joints...kidding...:-).

The best diagnosis is talo-navicular hypermobility. No stress fracture. So, they prescribed rest, no running for 6 weeks, immobilization, rigid shoes, orthotics, ice, ibuprofen. Oh, yeah, they found 2 bone spurs not related to the pain.

See you in 6 weeks, I guess.

I'm not waiting 6 weeks because I know it will still hurt in 6 weeks. So, I went running today...minimal pain. The bad thing is that I won't be able to do block starts until who knows when. I'll take minimal pain vs. not running at all.

Thanks. I've done 3 workouts since that last post. Nothing intense, just drills and some long intervals on the roads. My warm ups have been on the track but I've stayed in lane 8. Very little pain while doing those intervals so there's hope.
