I originally thought, before diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the hip brought on by dysplasia, that I was having lower back issues. My pain moved around between my butt and side of my hip and my front hip flexor area. The hip flexor was the most recent area of pain and the most acutely debilitating. Besides the ache in my butt, raising my affected leg to 90 degrees while lying on my back became impossible. Some people who think they might have an issue with their groin, lower back, hamstring, IT-band, or quad might actually have a hip problem.
Hopefully, people can get a diagnosis before they have bone on bone. I was just lucky/unlucky enough to not have had any painful symptoms before my joint ended up bone on bone with cysts and a prognosis of THR. I will be keeping an eye on my other hip which shows some signs of arthritis.
