Post subject:  plantar fasciitis

I started having problems with my right foot the beginning of January, when I got up, for the first couple of minutes hard to walk on, then it was gone, then towards the end of the month, I did a couple of interval workouts and it hurt really bad, after the second one, I was on crutches for 5 days, I went to the doctor and he told me to take it easy and ice it a lot and do stretches and he referred me to a foot specialist. I went to the foot specialist and he gave me a splint to wear at night and told me to ice it and no running for three weeks.
I know others have had this problem, how long will it take to heal??
most of the pain is in the heel area, but it is not a sudden pain like a spur, but a all around pain that engulfs the heel area.

Post subject:  Foot splint

Sleep with a plantar faciitis foot splint. It resembles an open ski boot. You can purchase them at most sporting good stores or on the Internet.

I had PF for several years. One orthopedic specialist suggested surgery. The athletic trainer at my university gave me a splint. I wore it for four nights. The problem went away and never returned. It might work for you.

I had a bout of it that lasted about a year and a half. Tried everything, ice, stretching, etc.

Wore the Strassburg sock at night. That helped, but what really worked for me was a nice deep calf massage. Would do it at night while watching the tube. Place the calf on top of the opposite knee and really go after it.
As quickly as the pain came, it went away.

A truely frustrating injury for sure.

I got a bad case of PF 3 weeks before Nationals. I couldn't even jog without pain. Went on YouTube and found multiple videos on how to tape your foot for PF. It was a miracle. With the taping I could sprint full out. Sprinted in 4 races at Nationals.

Hi
I am training with plantar fasciitis, but I am doing it carefully, consulting my doc. It is a very common injury for long distance runners.
I am also running and I am dealing with plantar fasciitis for more than a year now. There are many things you can do to treat your PF although I understood that treatment efficiency is very individual.
At the beginning I took a complete rest and gradually started walking and running. I also started swimming and riding a bicycle.
Did you try Taping? Like skloch I have also found it very useful.
I also found a very informative website in:

Take care & Good luck
