Galleries galore! Lotsa photos added to Sacto worlds albums

You might see yourself. You might not. But I guarantee you’ll be impressed with the effort shown in the faces and sometimes wrinkly sinews of Sacramento entrants in our latest photo albums. Check out the distances (including steeple), the 200/400 sprints, augmented throws and more jumps. And best of all — last Sunday’s relays. Use the slide-show function. (Hurdles are still to come.) Wife Chris and I took perhaps 20,000 photos at worlds, and we’re just getting around to picking the best, cropping, rotating, boosting contrast, etc. Below is Aussie giant Stuart Gyngell, who dusted the M45 shot field with a toss of 17.91 meters (58-9 1/4). He had four fouls in the competition.

Ken, well done getting this posted. I look forward to browsing. My own work, covering every day at SacState plus decathlon and walks at SacCity will be a little later appearing. I returned home Thursday with a devil of a head cold, and then remembered I left for Sacramento virtually 36 hours after our British Championships, so all those shots need to be done too (and probably first).

My own tally is about 17,000 shots from Sacramento. That’s just me, working solo. These will, of course, be whittled down a great deal before galleries get posted on-line. As did I, you also raced 100 and 200. I ran relay too. I’m thinking we have every justification for feeling a bit jaded right now!

Athletes, I was the guy in the white hat, and the FiveFingers shoes. Those who think I have shots of them (you’re probably right) should keep an eye on http://www.tomphillipsphotos.co.uk I just wish I had time and resource to do this full-time and get it all out there a bit faster!

For other, more theraputic reasons, I have also just blogged about Sacramento, at http://tomsprints.wordpress.com Those who know me will understand the background to some of that blog better than others.

Thank you very much for the nice sets of photos!
For people like me, who could not attend this championship, it is a great pleasure to see so many great athletes in action – the incredible M50 triple jumper Wolfgang Knabe (No 1235), Joy Upshaw, my colleague in long jump W75, the great long-jumpers in M45, and not at last – Ken Stone himself running 200m (No 4587), etc., etc.
It would be fantastic if some videos from these events are posted (like those in http://mastersathletics.info/index.php ).
See you in Lyon in 2015!

My own videos are in the works. If you go to YouTube and search for WMA 2011 Sacramento, you’ll see many now, including a great set of throws!

Thank you very much for the great photos, Ken and Chris !! Also, a special thanks to you Ken, for all that you do with this site !!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ralph Maxwell in the Decathlon and rooting for him to break a world record in the pole vault. He is truly a gentleman and a great athlete. I learned a lot from just talking to him.

Ken, Re videos, you might have noticed that Youtube is already awash with vids under the “wma2011” principal tag, and similar, from the “World Music Awards 2011”. Looks like half of Italy videoed its tv screen that night.

Well worth making sure the secondary tags on your Youtube postings include words like “Track & Field” and “athletics”.

I am hoping someone was still conscious by the time we raced the M55 sprint relay, and has video to post.
