Let’s do a gift exchange! I’ll start with a useful present for Peter

Peter Taylor, God’s gift to masters track announcing and a superadvocate for records sanity, gets my first gift: diamond-tipped fingers for his keyboard exertions. My second gift goes to my friend Rita Hanscom, who in her day job has been laboring under the radar to mete justice upon Medicare fraudsters. Let her have an aiding wind the whole way in the 300-meter hurdles. My third is to Brenda Matthews, who achieved her 10-year dream of beating Phil Raschker in the short sprints (twice)! I bequeath Brenda a clone of herself, so she can train and run the Southern California Striders at the same time. (She’s the president.) Now it’s your turn. What do you wish for your friends in Masterstrackland?

Hey, kids, Smartty here. I wish continued verticality for all of you. To go along with THAT, healthiness that will allow us to DO OUR THING. That includes getting Peter in a 5K. As the good ol’ boys say in the hollers, “Merry Christmas, youns, hava goodern.”

Thank you very much, Ken. And Jerry S., my best recent time for 5 miles (on the treadmill) is 45:50, and I am indeed looking for a race. In the old days I could come right off the treadmill and run a decent time, but in recent years I have not been venturing into races (most of my workouts are on the recumbent or upright bike). I will see what I can do.

Let me give a shout out to Ken for his unbelievable output on this site and to Andrew H. for his prodigious efforts on American and world records. Remarkable.

How about we all pitch in for a “Whizinater” for Val Barnwell. This is a device found on a Minnesota Viking running back, a few years ago !
