This is tough. The jury was out in Kettrell Berry’s student-sex case for so long — more than a week — that his friends clung to hope for an acquittal or a hung jury. But the news arriving Tuesday afternoon was devastating: guilty on 11 felony counts. See story on Times of San Diego. This also is a tragedy for his preteen track star son. Kettrell cheered his every step, often taking videos and posting on Facebook. Last time I saw Kettrell was at the mid-May Southern California Striders Meet of Champions in Santa Ana. He had lost weight and overcome knee issues. Unsure if he’ll appeal. But if he behaves in lockup, he can return to track in his 60s.

Poor, poor Kettrell. We’re all upset and worried about him in prison and this being a tragedy for his son. Hell no! My first thoughts were about his victim(s).

Have to agree with Gary. Your article kind of sounds like your more worried about Kettrell then the victims.

My thoughts are with the victim(s).

Gary and Tom have hit the nail on the head! It is a slippery slope when dealing this type of situation, it is incumbent on the “adult” to make the right decision which clearly was not done in this case. My thoughts are with the victims as well!

I agree with Gary, Tom and E. Grant. Speaking as someone who coaches girls track, I have no sympathy for Kettrell. The victims should be our first concern though I do see it as a tragedy for his son as his fathers actions and prison time will affect his sons life.

Well, when your guilty your guilty!!! I am not trying to make any excuses for Berry. But how many Black Men have been accused of rape, and never committed the crime???!!!!! How many white guys have raped, and gotten away with it!!!!! Oh yeah, that Stanford white Boy. All he got was what ???? What about that girl that this Dog Violated. Protection for the Complexion and Money always prevails for them. You do a crime , you should do the time equally. Regardless of your COLOR !!!!!!!!
